Here is my contribution to Stephen Chapman's 'Summer Special' on his blog - thestateofthenationuk.blogspot.co.uk
All pics taken yesterday.
Summer morning sun (6 o'clock) over Worthing sea-front.
Early dog-walkers (you can just about see them) under Summer morning moon in park opposite my flat.
A bit scruffy, looking more as though it's a left-over from the Beijing 2008 games - bit it's working!
This has made my Summer! Unlike Stephen, who's been favoured to be able to watch some events actually there, live in person, here is how I've been viewing events. But even so, been having the time of my life.
Yes, yes.................YEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!! Yet another GOLD!!! Is there NO END to this succession of historic British triumphs????
While for some, life carries on regardless, mill. by painful mill., in ultra slo-mo.............

lovely photos, dear. now go check out my blog, or else!
ReplyDeleteJust done that, A.M. - and I'm chuffed to bits! What, with Olympic euphoria and now your blog appearance, is this Paradise? Yes, I believe it could well be!
ReplyDeletenah, it's just earth, not paradise. :(
Deletewhat up with GB and all those medals; hurrah for my mother country! :)
Well, let's compromise and call it 'paradise on earth' then. It's still jolly good.
DeleteYes, A.M., the tally of those medals has well exceeded my own expectations, though it was hoped for by the more optimistic sporting pundits here. I must temper the joy, though, by noting how relatively badly countries which normally do so much better than Britain, are doing, having a disappointing, or even terrible, Games - Australia and Germany, for example.
However, "Rule Britannia!" I am singing lustily.
Wonderful photos, nice early summer sun in Worthing.
ReplyDeleteLoved the snail, slo-mo indeed.
Thanks so much, Jase. It was a practically wind-less, lovely mild morning. If only I could still do the morning runs like I used to - if only!
DeleteI love the snail!
ReplyDeleteThanks to you too, Cubby. The snail was a pretty much off-the-wall shot. (Ho ho!) To keep it down to five pics it was a choice between that and one of me wearing a pair of Summer shorts which I've never dared to wear outside. You can see who won.
DeleteWhat a great snapshot of your day. I especially love "Summer morning sun (6 o'clock) over Worthing sea-front."
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mitch. It's quite astonishing to find how one becomes more observant when one goes out carrying a camera and with a purpose. Maybe ought to carry it in a pocket all the time outside just to open my eyes.
DeleteThanks for playing again Ray - I have a strange fascination for snails
ReplyDeleteNo idea why!
My pleasure, Stephen. It felt good to return to this little exercise again.
DeleteI do have something ion the back of my mind about photo(s) you've posted before featuring snails. Yes, they are intriguing creatures - but, like many others, also so vulnerable.
Nice shots. I especially like the morning sun and the snail!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Howard. All my pics were just chance observations which, if we went out with eyes peeled all the time, I'm sure we'd be picking up the treasures around us.
DeleteHonoured by your visit, by the way. You're always welcome.
What a great year - first there is the 60th, then the olympics.
ReplyDeleteIt has indeed been a most remarkable year, Dr Spo - unfortunately for me also being, for a number of reasons, the single 'worst' year of my life so far. But people don't like to read about the moans of others so the challenge is to 'accentuate the positive'. And I am certainly looking forward to more breath-taking events and reasons to be cheerful from the Olympics which, even though I say it myself as a Brit, is shaping up to be the best Olympics ever.
