Perfect timing - NOT!

My heating has stopped working - both water and central heating. Only found out when I got up 3 hours ago. Rang landlord an hour later, having to leave a telephone message. Far too early to start panicking yet, but he does tend to go away for days at a time. If he doesn't come today (assuming he can put it right) there's an uncomfortable time ahead. The only alternative at the moment is a single small fan heater, which hasn't been used for over 12 years, and which used to give off a spark every time it was switched off. Other than that I'll have to buy another one - and this p.m. too, being Sunday tomorrow. Oh dear! at least today is mild and tonight it's forecast to go down to 5 degrees Celsius, which is bearable with, if necessary, hot water bottle and electric blanket. But tomorrow night it's due to plunge to freezing, so that won't be any fun, both for me and the pussies. Dare not get someone else out to fix it as, considering the exorbitant prices some rogue fitters charge, I just don't have the dosh to pay for it. Oh well. Can do nothing but sit here with fingers crossed hoping that Mr Landlord will come round and work some magic.

  1. I've my fingers crossed along with you that Mr. Landlord will come and work some magic. I've been through many power outages in winter and know what you're feeling. Hope that soon you and the pussies will be toasty warm.

  2. Thanks for that, Paul. It's now over 6 hours since leaving message for the landlord - and so far no response. I've been out to buy a new fan heater, which should be okay for just the living room, but this type of heater just gobbles up the £s. Looks like in the next few days I could have two (or more) pussy cats fighting for my lap.

  3. Oh, how awful! Maybe you've even had success by now. I hope so.

  4. In this case, having a small room like mine would be better. However, it's always too warm here.

  6. Thanks, Mitch & Dr Spo - over 24 hours later and no response from landlord, so still shivering. Dropped a note though his door at 6 a.m. His car was outside - but I'm still waiting, with tomorrow due to get even colder.

Tai, I'd so like to swap with you - and so would my pussies, with one of them sleeping in my bed last night and snoring loudly for hours in my ear.

  7. Yes Ray, I remember how pussies snugged into my bed and snored loudly too, when I was a kid.

  8. Tai, I thought snoring cats were quite unusual. Did you mean that they PURRED loudly, which my snoring one does too?

  9. Ray, I think every cat snores when sleeping.

  10. Tai, maybe Asian cats more than others? It's only my Blackso who snores - and very loudly too. Noodles doesn't, and I don't recall any of the many cats doing it that my family had when I was young. But anyway, some do, some don't.
