Are our seasons shifting?

Above are some pics taken from my window, today and
last November.
We're currently experiencing temperatures which would normally grace July, after a Winter in which November was colder even than January usually gets. In this part of England we're now having the warmest April spell since 1949. So what's going on? Topsy-turvy weather seems to be an ever-increasing phenomenon. Still, though the reasons for this apparent disturbance in weather patterns could be yet more evidence of dire consequences ahead for all of us, at least for the moment it enables me to expose and brandish my knobbly knees outside.
(Btw, it may be noticed from the third and fourth photos that some of the trees have recently been felled.)

I add, for good measure, a pic of 'yours truly' taken a short while ago - trying to look a little more cheerful than she usually looks, but succeeding rather in looking sleepy!

  1. You need to do a video of you dancing to a favorite tune...no one can NOT look upbeat doing that :-)

  2. Got to take things gradually, Wonderboy. I'm working out what I can talk about in doing a similar video-talk to that which you yourself do so well. As for shaking my booty on-screen, well, stranger things have happened, but first need to make sure that there are enough supports around which I can hang on to if I fall over.

  3. Your eyebrows are very special. As I know, people call them sword-eyebrows. Was you in the army? These eyebrows must belong to a captain.

  4. Thanks, Tai. I've never had compliments about my eyebrows before even though I'm quite proud of them. They are unusual, turning upwards so conspicuously.
No, I was never in any military service. Conscription in this country stopped about three years before my time would have been due. It's been voluntary ever since. I suppose it's still compulsory in VietNam? If so, do you get a choice between doing service or working in a hospital or similar place for a longer period like, I believe they still do in Germany?

  5. I was chatting with my friend in London last night and he was going on about how it is 26C there and he can't stand it. I got out my trusty calculator and figured 26C = 78F. He's complaining about 78F!! Really? How do you feel about 26C?

  6. Far too hot for me, Cubby. But your friend need only wait. Temps are forecast to take a dive middle of next week. Down to 12C (=55F) in these parts. Now that's too cold! ;-)

  7. Yes Ray, it's still compulsary in Vietnam but I didn't do services at my due time :)

  8. I don't quite understand that, Tai. Does that mean that the police might arrest you and put you in prison? Or maybe you were able to postpone it until later? If it is the first of these then I'm getting worried for you!

  9. We are experiencing all kinds of topsy turvy weather, but that isn't too abnormal for this time of year. The plants in the yard are a bit confused, but are adjusting.

  10. Kyle, I think it's becoming indisputable that the increasing vagaries of the seasons is symptomatic of what we all know is happening to our climate in general - though some might argue it's still too early to know for certain. Whether it is or not, I'm as worried as hell, even though I won't be around to see the runaway effects at their most dramatic and catastrophic; unless the deterioration accelerates at an even faster rate, which is quite possible.
