Oh! I see a fellow reader! I have loads of boxes of books, simply loads. Sigh I miss my books, since we moved they have lived in a storage unit due to a lack of space here. Why, or how does one find the time to clean when there are so many lovely words to read? I know for me tis a stuggle indeed to put my book down and go and do silly stuff like clean and whatnot. Thanks for inviting us into your home.
Biki - I LOVE you! I've been so worried about blog-pals writing me off as a dirty, hopeless case, and then you write a beautiful message like that. Thank you so much! Yes, you are so right - it's a question of priorities. Btw Every single one of those books (apart from some in the lower right corner) as well as a lot not in the picture, has not only been read, but most of them several times. I keep those which I want to re-read and give the others to charity shops to re-sell. Must be very frustrating for you not having enough space to keep all you'd like. I do hope circumstances change for you - and quickly. Meantime, good reading, pal. And thanks again!
Oh I loved the books, all piled on high and the clearing for the keyboard looking toward the sky.
If I came round, I'd have a hard job not trying to reorganise your books. I think I may have a touch of OCD where neat books and order of such are concerned. However I believe it was someone jolly jolly clever that once said a cluttered desk is a sign of genius.
Daniel, 'Ta' for your kind words. My keyboard is indeed a pool of sanity amongst all the disorder. But, yes, the operative word is 'priorities' and since I never even get visitors, let alone LIVE with anyone, what's the point?
Jason, any re-organisation of my books would be ORGANISATION. They are just haphazard at the moment, though I now and again try to separate the 'classics' from contemporary popular fiction - Tolstoy goes here, Grisham goes there.... I'm the complete opposite of my brother, 18 months younger - he absilutely cannot cope unless everything is neat and tidy and in exactly the right position. As for clutter = genius; well, maybe, but not necessarily always.
Andrew, Re Cuddly toys; My plea is that most were given to me by a bookshop where, if your purchases came to £20 or over you were offered one. I took them for my cats to play with but they weren't the slightest interested and I didn't want to throw them away. But on the 'mess', glad to hear that you sound like you may be a kindred spirit.
Dr Spo, if your opinion is from you wearing your professional hat, I take heart from your reassurance. Thanks.
Cubby: Blackso was outside somewhere. He still thinks it's Summer though the weather is now distinctly Autumnal. Noodles was at the kitchen window, out of camera-shot. (I'm surprised that YOU are enquiring after pussies!) And yes, my 'library' is quite extensive, with every single book having been fingered - and more.
I am like your brother and must have everything organized and in it's place, but I do not cringe seeing these pics. It is your home, your castle, your refuge and your fortress and the only one who needs to be comfy and content in it is you.
I think I'm becoming more compulsive by the second Ray. I feel a need to tidy up! I'm pleased to see copious amounts of cat food though! You and I could never live together - we'd drive each other to distraction (or murder!)
Sean - Thanks for the warning, S/b. When I come visiting I'll make doubly sure that when I leave, everything will be as it was when I arrived. ;-) It's no wonder I've never lived with anybody after leaving the family. No one would want to have me - and vice versa!
Craig - yes, I fear your last sentence is spot-on. Would you believe that I had another brother (he died 3 years ago) who was even MORE untidy than me. His sloppiness drove ME nuts! So I take comfort in the thought that things could be yet worse - though YOU won't see it. There's at least as much cat food in the kitchen as there is food for myself. Mind you, I'm not only feeding my own two, but there are also another (currently) four feline visitors who come through the window for free extras, which, being the softie I am, I serve them.
Ray it is your home. We should all be honored you let us in. Looks like our house before Stan and I were living together and doing major renovations/changes.
Thanks for those words of comfort, Kyle. I wasn't always like this, and certainly not when I had money. There seems to be a correlation between personal wealth (or lack of) and tidiness. Anyway, if ever the chance comes to move - I'm off! Cheers, pal.
wow what a mess :)
ReplyDeleteCould you ever guess that I live alone, T? Well, with my two pussies who don't seem to mind, so why should I worry?
ReplyDeleteYou are right :) and I’m sure your 2 pussies love it
ReplyDeleteT -they both ran away from their (separate) homes on this very same road in order to live with me. Now I think I know why.

It's all about making priorities. I love the free keyboard in your mess. Thanks for sharing!

Soft toys?!!
ReplyDeleteI chickened out of taking pics of my mess... although you've got a few years head start on me!
so long as you know where everything is!

Where are your pussies?!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see plenty of sunlight shining into your rooms, and I like your library :-)
