Two American politicos for whom I've got the 'hots'.

Maybe with me it's a passing phase, though I hope not - even if at my age it may seem like baby-snatching, when happening upon either of these similar-looking dazzling guys appearing on my lap-top, I'm so transfixed by their appearances that I pay far less attention to what they're saying than a serious politics-watcher ought........

Hayes Brown, Writer/director with MSNBC Daily:-

And -
Maxwell Frost, Congressman for Florida 10th District:-

I've purposely avoided delving into the background and histories of these two, for not wishing to unearth something I'd regret learning about - though it would genuinely astonish me if there were to be any such thing. However, one never knows........

I think it was about 10 years ago when I posted about my over-bearing fascination with American politics, such that by far the largest share of daily time spent on my laptop was watching YouTube postings from left-of-centre (or at least 'middling') American sources. Resulting from a realisation that such a practice got me nowhere other than to keep me up to date - though also, frankly, being a 'waste of time' - which might have been better utilised on doing something more productive. I did then manage to curtail my excessive interest. However, now with the political American scene having been transformed in the last decade or so into a near-monstrous attention-grabber, I've found that its appeal has once again become irresistible, this time with an horrific dimension which very few could have imagined, let alone wished for. So here it is - I'm back to spending easily the majority of my lap-top hours on American politics once more. I know that a determined effort ought to be made to get control of my screen-watching again - though the likelihood of either of these two gentlemen appearing on my screen (with my slavering over them) sure don't make it easy for a lone, old, sex-starved being like yours truly.

  1. Your fascination with US politics is my opposite reaction. I fear and avoid them. It's just fucking frightening these days.

    1. Yes, I've known for some time, and fully understand, your reaction to something that's so unnervingly close-to-home - literally, B. It must be distance that allows me to indulge, though it's rare when I feel better after watching/ reading daily updates than before I did.

  2. Two very attractive men; you've got good taste.
Don't get too bogged down in our mess; it can get rapidly depressing. So take a break and look at the two hot men for a while!

    1. Their appearances are like a cloud's silver-lining, Bob, and helps me get through the near-daily dire news they might be imparting. I'll keep looking at these two until there's a darned good reason not to. (I fervently hope that no one is now going to spoil it for me. My post does rather look like an invite to do so!)

    2. Actually, on second thoughts, they're not so much 'silver linings' as two (very large) 'spoonfuls of sugar'! :-)

    3. I like your descriptions!!

    4. If there was any 'inspiration' in my writing (dubious), it was the two guys who caused it.

  3. I’m mostly in avoidance mode these days, but you found a couple of good reasons to keep watching.

    1. Quite honestly, if there weren't the positive reasons like these two guys present, I'd be more inclined to reduce my watching, which would be better for my mental health. However, as they're there........

  4. Every day here is more horrifying than the one before. I just can't believe the things happening, seemingly illegal things happening, w/no pushback. I follow Frost online. I love him b/c he speaks up; isn't like some of these old Democrats who don't seem to have a clue how to fight back against Trump and Musk.

    1. Just how much worse can it get, Elle? It goes on and on and on. If only the next elections weren't so far away, only then might the Repugs think again - or some of them - though still maybe enough to bring about some amelioration of the whipping you're receiving. And also make the Dems realise that they after all DO have a spine, and start using it. But by then there'd possibly be even millions more dead - by the witholding of medical aid or its cost (and through measles too?) My heart breaks especially for the vulnerable on your side - and all the rest!

Yes, Maxwell Frost not only has looks, he's got a brain which he uses expertly - and at the moment it's the latter which really matters.

  5. Europeans (and the rest of the world) have every right to sit back and watch the shit show America is airing. Many of us would rather bring down the ship then let this poison spread out of our borders.

    1. Those outside America who are enjoying the 'show' can only be lacking a wider, more true perspective, viz that the longer this horror chapter goes on, the implications for just about every single country are HUGE - and that means right down to every individuals' liberties and securities. The greatest tragedy, surely, in most of all our lifetimes, going at least right back to WWII.

  7. At least, being British, you can step away from all this insanity, for now anyway. I can't, I'm from Washington, DC! The actions of these mad men impact me and everyone i know. What's even more depressing is that spite and vindictiveness are driving these crazy new policies. I am seriously thinking of emigrating.

    1. I only wish I actually could ignore it, H., but I can't, even though it causes me daily pain - but nothing like as intense as the likes of you must be going through. If it's not put a stop to very soon, the effects of these two maniacs' actions are going to be felt increasingly throughout the rest of the world, with sometimes permanent, even irrecoverable damage. What's remains unnerving to me and to many of us Brits is that so many Americans STILL support them - decreasingly so, yes, but not yet nearly enough to make them reverse their insanities, or (far better) to just disappear forever.
I really do feel for you - and may it quickly become apparent that your emigrating may, after all, be not necessary - though how that can be, I don't know.
Very best wishes to you - and yours.

    2. Thank you Raybeard! Many of us need all the sympathy we can get.

    3. Be assured as I sense there's far more sympathy generally here for fair-minded Americans still living in your homeland than might be readily apparent - though I appreciate that doesn't help you in any practical sense. Nonetheless, there's lots of fingers crossed here that the nightmare ends speedily.
